Nightly Show Says Cops Act Like They’re Playing Call of Duty

In the most recent episode of Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show, host, Larry Wilmore, takes a stab at the recent behavior of cops, asking if they believe they’re playing a video game like Call of Duty while on the job.

Here’s the video clip:

Wilmore is citing the recent militiarized state of local police forces which are now using advanced weaponry, armored vehicles, grenade launchers, and a host of other military-grade pieces of equipment against every day citizens. Obviously the statements made are supposed to be humorous, but at the same time they take deep cuts at how police are being overly empowered and putting the public at risk.

The Call of Duty reference is meant to play on the fact that cops are being armed to the teeth and, in some cases, seem to be going into situations with a shoot-first, ask questions later mentality.
