A new patch just went live for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for Playstation 4 consoles. This update has made a number of different changes including alterations to a few specialists, some weapon buffs and nerfs, a few tweaks to certain scorestreaks, and some minor work to maps.
This update went live on February 8th, 2016.
UPDATE: Weapon changes listed below now also apply to Xbox One users.
Here are the full version 1.06 patch notes that were released by Treyarch (click each section to zoom in):
The most notable changes are the alterations to weapons.
The ICR-1, HVK-30, and Sheiva all received a boost to their damage at long range. This means it should take a bullet or two less to get a kill when targeting enemies at ranges beyond close quarters and medium distances.
The KN-44, on the other hand, received a buff to its damage at medium range. This is arguably a very questionable weapon buff as the KN-44 was already a pretty strong gun to begin with. The increased damage has been noticeable in online matches.
The Weevil received a boost to its medium distance damage range, but only for Hardcore game modes. It will remain the same as before in traditional playlists.
The only other weapon that was affected was the Locus. This sniper was given an increased weapon switch speed. This just means that you can swap to it from your secondary a tad faster.
Perhaps the biggest news of all is the lone gun that received a nerf. That gun, of course, is the Vesper. David Vonderhaar hinted last week that this SMG would be getting a demotion. That revelation has now come true. With the 1.06 update the Vesper now has reduced recoil stability and reduced hip-fire accuracy. This means it will become a slightly less accurate weapon altogether.
