In the newest Call of Duty title, Black Ops 3, gamers will no longer be spawning into matches as a standard player. Instead, they’ll have the option to pick a unique class, called a Specialist, to use. Treyarch hasn’t yet announced exactly how many specialists are available in the game but have released the details of four of these classes for players to get excited about.
UPDATE: We now have a guide for all of the Black Ops 3 specialists – check it out!
The Ruin is a specialist that is clearly designed for players that want speed and aggression on their side. Equipped with Gravity Spikes he can jump into the air and come crashing down on enemies. This ability also creates an AoE (area of effect) shockwave upon activation.
The Ruin also has access to Overdrive, a special ability that temporarily increases the speed of all his movements.
The Seraph sounds similar to a sub-class seen in the fantasy-FPS, Destiny. He can wield a powerful revolver that is capable of killing foes in a single shot. And, if you’re lucky enough, you can even rack up combination kills by getting multiple enemies lined up in your sights. A single bullet can travel through multiple targets, killing them all without a hitmarker.
The Seraph’s other unique ability is Combat Focus which gives the player a bonus multiplier that boosts the effectiveness of scorestreaks.
Fancy yourself an impressive shot and want to live out your dream of being Hawkeye while playing Call of Duty? Well, the Outrider specialization might wet your appetite. This class gets access to a nifty compound bow with explosive bolts that kill with one shot.
On top of having an awesome bow the Outrider is also equipped with Vision Pulse, an ability that allows the player to temporarily spot enemies through walls using a sort of X-ray vision effect.
The Reaper is the specialization seen in the official Black Ops 3 reveal trailer that many have been wondering about. Remember the guy that magically morphed his arm into a gun? Yeah, that’s the Reaper. His arm can transform into the Scythe, a powerful minigun.
Having a lead-pounding gun for a hand not enough for you? No worries, the Reaper also has a unique ability called Glitch that allows him to teleport back to a position he was in seconds prior. Makes for a quick and mysterious escape or dodge.
That’s it for now. But you can bet your sweet buttocks that once more info is available for specializations, we’ll post it here. These new classes sound ridiculously cool.
