Reaper is yet another one of the specialist classes in Black Ops 3. Unlike the other human-based classes, Reaper is a combat robot that was created in 2063. This character grants players access to a turret-like gun that protrudes from the robot’s arm and an ability that allows the robot to clone itself to throw opponents off from its position.
This interesting character is actually a product of the Coalescence Corporation. The robot was initially supposed to be the first of a line of machines that would assist soldiers during war. The project proved to be too costly and controversial, eventually being completely dumped.
Reaper is the lone prototype that was manufactured during the testing phase of the program. He is the one and only robot of his kind, a highly advanced combat machine, a testament of what could have been. His “real name” is CS-000011-5-EWR (the robot’s official production serial number).
“Started as an expensive military R&D project to supplement Special Operations soldiers in the field, the EWR was a cutting-edge prototype combat robot, the most advanced in the world at the time. Budget overruns and embarrassing political incidents left the project all but a resource for scrap metal, except for the one prototype that remained.”
Reaper’s special weapon is the Scythe. This is a mini-gun that the robot’s arm actually transforms into upon activation of the special. It has a total clip size of 200 rounds and fires only in full-auto mode. It operates somewhat similarly to the Death Machine that was in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. It’s deadly, but severely limits player movement to a slow crawl.

The Reaper class gives players access to a unique ability called Psychosis. When activated, it produces three clones of the character that are meant to distract and confuse enemies. The clones don’t have great AI, however, making it somewhat simple to determine the actual player’s position. It can be helpful at times, but certainly isn’t the most useful special ability of all the classes.
Reaper was actually shown in action in the first couple of teaser trailers for Black Ops 3. If you’d like to see it in further use by a real player, though, be sure to watch the video below. It shows off some real gameplay of the class in an actual match.
